One of four known remaining Buzzard Bay 30s, Mashnee is a 1902 Nathanial Hereshoff-designed and -built racer. Purchased several years ago in aderelict state by Jan Rozendaal, Mashnee came north to Vermont for a new lease on life. The complete restoration/rebuild has been going on at Darling’s Boatworks in Shelburne, VT for several years. The boat’s centerline and frames had been replaced by the summer of 2006, and then attention shifted to other projects for awhile.
I came in as a new lead builder on the project in the summer of 2006. During the next year, we gave Mashnee her planking, deck, keel, and many other parts and pieces. We plan on finishing over the winter and floating her in spring 2008.
